INTRASTATE and non-essential travel – including travel to go fishing and boating – is opening across Australia.

NSW, Queensland and Victoria this week joined South Australia, Western Australia and the Northern Territory to enable people to travel intrastate and stay overnight. Tasmania announced yesterday that it would also allow travel and overnight stays from 3pm Friday, 5 June.

Fishing and boating is permitted in all Australian states and territories. The Boating Industry Association (BIA) says the move is expected to reinvigorate the boating sector which shares much common ground with tourism.

Charter boats are also able to operate while adhering to social distancing guidelines.
