THE NSW DPI Fisheries Oyster Reef Restoration Project is inviting the NSW recreational fishing community to participate in a new shellfish reef restoration survey.

Recreational fishers’ unique knowledge of the areas they fish, coupled with the growing enthusiasm in this community for shellfish reef restoration, forms the foundation of this new survey.

Recreational fishers are set to be one of the key beneficiaries of future restoration projects as shellfish reef restoration can enhance water quality and provide new habitat for fish, including iconic recreational fish species.

The results of this new survey will help DPI, and other interested groups, plan for and implement shellfish reef restoration projects in NSW waters in the future.
