Randwick Councillors have approved new powers for rangers to impound boat trailers.

RANDWICK Council in Sydney has voted to crack down on boat trailers being parked in residential streets.

According to an article in the Southern Courier, Councillors approved new powers for rangers to impound boat trailers that are parked for more than 28 days.

The article says that rangers will only take action after receiving a complaint and will take into account the impact on the area, safety, condition of the boat trailer and the size and number of others parked nearby.

While Rangers will have the power to impound trailers but they must give owners 15 days’ notice. The council voted to monitor the implementation of the new powers and report back in 12 months.
