South East Queensland lockdown: Can I go fishing and boating?

THE Australian Fishing Trade Association (AFTA) has confirmed Queensland government health advice that you should not go fishing – unless you can demonstrate that it is absolutely necessary to obtain essential food and that you can do so within a 10 kilometre radius from your home – in the following local government areas:

  • City of Brisbane
  • City of Gold Coast
  • City of Ipswich
  • Lockyer Valley Regional Council
  • Logan City
  • Moreton Bay Region
  • Noosa Shire Council
  • Redland City
  • Scenic Rim Regional Council
  • Somerset Regional Council
  • Sunshine Coast Regional Council
According to AFTA, recreational boating is not permitted during the South East Queensland lockdown and Queensland Health has highly recommended not to fish for food during the lockdown to minimise the risk of spreading COVID-19 at launch points.

Queensland Boating and Fisheries Patrol officers patrol waterways and fishing rules remain in place.
